Mrs. Butler, NHS advisor, is pleased to announce the list of students eligible to apply to the National Honor Society. These students have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher and applicants will now be evaluated by the Faculty Council in the areas of character, leadership, and service as the National Honor Society strives to recognize well-rounded students who excel in many ways.

The National Honor Society is not just an honorary organization.  Though membership looks great on college entry forms and summer job applications, the NHS is, foremost, a service organization.  While it is, indeed, an honor to be a member, it is also a responsibility.  Members are expected to participate in several community projects. Among the good work that NHS members do are multiple Red Cross Blood Drives, fundraisers and heart health education for the American Heart Association, the holiday food drive, and helping at many school events.   Mrs. Butler commented, “We try to stay busy with some good deed most of the school year. that students who participate at the HS level in events such as a blood drive will, in their future, step-up to organize>span class="gmail_default"> or help in community projects when they recognize a need.”

Students listed will receive letters with application instructions in the next few weeks and there will be an informative meeting in Mrs. Butler's room soon.  They should listen to announcements for dates and times and stop to see Mrs. Butler if they have any questions. A lot of information is available at the school website. See the NHS page under the high school tab (https://www.gobles.org/o/gmhs/page/nhs) . You may also call or email Mrs. Butler. For the students chosen, the induction ceremony is currently scheduled for Tuesday, April 18th.
