Gobles Teacher's Association / Mary Tomilo Memorial Scholarship

Selection Criteria:

  1. Students must have, as a minimum, a grade point average of 2.25

  2. Student must be a graduating senior from the Gobles Public Schools

  3. Student must be enrolled in a college, university, technical school, community college, or some other accredited school of higher learning

  4. Special consideration will be given to a student based upon the financial need of the students, and for a student who otherwise may not receive a financial scholarship that has been based upon academic excellence

  5. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate the following citizenship qualities

    • ​​A cooperative attitude, positive personality, and enthusiasm

    • In general, has followed all rules, regulations and procedures of the Gobles School District as outlined in the Student Handbook

    • Have a good attendance record

Students interested in being considered for the Gobles Teacher's Association/Mary Tomilo Memorial Scholarship must complete the Local Scholarship Application and submit it to the Guidance Office. Applications are available online, or in the Guidance Office.

The selection committee for the Gobles Teacher's Association/Mary Tomilo Memorial Scholarship will be made up of an odd number of members to prevent any ties and will consist of the following people:

  1. Middle/High School Principal

  2. President of the Gobles Education Association

  3. One teacher from the Gobles Middle/High School English Department as selected by members of the English Department

  4. One member of the Gobles Elementary teaching staff

  5. One member of the Gobles Middle School (grades 7 and 8) teaching staff

  6. One member of the Gobles High School (grades 9-12) teaching staff

  7. School Counselor

At no time will a committee member be seated if a relative shall be an applicant. If such conditions exist, the President of the Gobles Education Association shall appoint a replacement from the teaching staff.

All members of the selection committee will have one vote in the selection of a recipient of this scholarship.

​The President of the Gobles Education Association will award this scholarship during the graduation program.
