Sight Word Fun

Mrs. Stambek’s Kindergarten classroom has been extremely busy practicing sight words! Sight words are the words that appear most frequently in our reading and writing. Often these words can not be sounded out and do not have a concrete image that accompanies them, so they simply must be memorized and understood. While practicing in class, they found numerous fun and exciting ways to practice and help students become familiar with each word in hopes that families can also use these various strategies at home to support their child’s reading. Shaving cream, pasta, playdough, sticks, cereal, pipe cleaners, and coins are just a few of the many items that can be used to produce a fun and engaging learning experience both in class and at home!
