three kindergarten students using blocks to count in math

Mrs. Stambek’s kindergarten students have been busy practicing math skills while using various manipulatives. As they learn to count and identify numbers, they have recently taken a closer look at place value and how all two-digit numbers are composed of tens and ones or as we call them in Kindergarten… Mr. Tens and Mr. Ones. During a recent activity, students were able to decompose (break apart) a given number and then recount the manipulatives with partners. Not only were they using their math skills, but also practiced using their Tiger Way skills to be responsible and respectful while working together in small groups.
