High School News

Early (6 AM) Wednesday, May 24 this great group of high school students traveled to the Gettysburg battlefield and then on to Washington DC: Ethan Penny, Owen Nuyen, Ella Ringel, Nolan Van Horn, Emma Nuyen, Mina Buchkowski, Ethan Wait, Cole Stapert, Presley Adams, Tyler Johnson, Alex Akers, Braylen Dorrington, Skylar Tuleja, Preston Misak, Gaige Flees, and Chloe Kneller.

After arriving in Gettysburg, we ate at a 1950s style diner named the Lincoln Diner. We then went on a Ghost tour around town and Cemetery Ridge. Then after a long day, we retired to the hotel for some pool time and bed. The next day was an awesome visit to the battlefield and Joe was an excellent docent! We drove through the grounds and stopping along the way to see important landmarks of the 3 day battle that turned the tide of the Civil War for Union. After that, we went onto Washington DC.

For the next 3 days we raced around Washington DC taking in almost every monument and memorial available to take in. World War II, Lincoln, Washington Monument, Ford’s Theatre and Petersen House, MLK, FDR, Jefferson Memorial, a White House picture stop, the Capitol Building, a Potomac River cruise, and the highlight for many the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery (almost all the places we saw).

It was an awesome great learning experience, a lot of fun, and I enjoyed being with this outstanding group of students! Our tour guide, Jay, remarked a number of times how excellent their behavior was. They all showed what the Tiger Way was all about. They were very responsible, respectful of the people and the places we encountered, and we were able to show what Gobles is all about!
