These nominations will be used to select up to three (3) teachers who have modeled The Tiger Way with outstanding professionalism, and/or have made major contributions to student learning and achievement, and/or have made contributions to the wider Gobles community. All nominees must be currently employed teachers at Gobles Public Schools. All nominations should be based on a consideration of the following criteria: - Outstanding contribution to students, the school, and/or wider community; - Evidence of professional growth through The Tiger Way. FREE VISION SCREENING FOR ALL STUDENTS K-12 WHEN: Thursday, May 2, 2024 WHAT: Project KIDsight will be at Gobles Public Schools to provide a free vision screening to all K-12 students. Through Project KIDsight, they aim to detect potential vision disorders in children that can cause permanent vision loss when treatment is delayed. Vision will be tested with an electronic vision screener (hi-tech camera) that will quickly and accurately determine whether the student's vision is a Pass or a Refer. Children that receive a Refer result have a potential vision problem and should be examined by an ophthalmologist or optometrist as soon as possible. WHY: 5% of all children experience vision loss from an undetected vision disorder, and treatment options increase when vision problems are detected early in a child's life. Normal vision can usually be restored with eye glasses, contact lenses and sometimes patching when vision problems are detected in young children. If you wish to have your student opt-out of the vision screening, please contact the secretary in the school office.

After careful consideration with the Van Buren ISD and surrounding schools, it is the decision to close schools for Friday, January 12, 2024 due to the predicted timing of the incoming snow storm. We would rather err on the side of caution and not chance the safety of our students, community and staff encountering the storm. Please be safe and enjoy the weekend. All evening activities scheduled for Friday have been canceled, basketball games scheduled for Friday have been moved to Wednesday, January 17th.
