You have been assigned to one of the two following sides: You are a Roman citizen with all of the rights and privileges that follow, or you are a person from an outlying Roman province with limited rights in the Roman government. These two sides will be debating on this complex issue. The Roman citizens will be arguing against giving the provincial people greater position in the government. The Provincial people will be arguing for an increase in rights. You will have the rest of the class period today and the beginning of tomorrow to prepare for the debate. Each team member must have a question to ask the other team during the debate. Each side will be given 1 minute for an opening statement and 2 minutes for a closing statement. Each side must elect 4 people to be the speakers for the team and 2 people to be the moderators of the debate. The moderators will work with the teacher to ensure the fairness of the debate.
