Welcome to Mrs. Harbaugh's Teacher Page!
Hello! Thank you for visiting my Teacher Page! My name is Loriann Harbaugh, and I am proud to be a Gobles Tiger! In fact, I have always been a Gobles Tiger, even when I was in college at Western Michigan University (WMU) as a Bronco. I grew up on the edge of the school property at the end of the school driveway near the football field and its parking lot. The lights of the field and the sound of the school buses leaving each morning to pick up students for another eventful day of school has always been a part of my life, so you could say that I bleed blue and orange, and I always will.
I went to school in Gobles from kindergarten through 12th grade and I graduated in 1987. I attended WMU in Kalamazoo and graduated in 1994 with my English education degree. Yes, it took me longer than four years to complete my degree because I paid for my entire college education by myself. I always say, "Where there is a will, there is a way," and I truly believe it. I was hired at Gobles 1995. I worked as a Reading Specialist aide for two years in the elementary school, and I subbed for a year before I officially became a member of the teaching staff. After coaching cheerleading for 18 years (3 years at the middle school level, 15 years as the Varsity coach), I retired from coaching to raise my family with my husband Corey here in Gobles. Corey works for Paw Paw Public Schools as the Director of Instruction, so the two of us are lifelong teachers and learners. We have four children: Tucker (who is in the workforce), Emma (a senior at Adrian College), Peyton ( a junior at W.M.U.), and Tristan, our "little guy," who is a freshman and member of the Gobles Class of 2024. They, too, are Tigers through and through.
This year will begin my 25 year of teaching at Gobles, and I have taught 7th grade every year since I started here. Although I have taught 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th grades in the past, I am currently teaching English 7, English 9 , and English 11 this year.
I am very active in our community and because Tristan is still involved in extracurricular activities here at Gobles, you will more than likely see me sitting in the stands at high school football games, high school basketball games, and high school baseball games; you will also find me shopping locally.
In my spare time I love to read, cook, and bake; laugh with my family, friends, and students; attend my son's extracurricular activities, and attend conferences that help me improve my teaching practices, which directly impact my students.
It is my privilege and honor to be your student's teacher this year, and I thank you for sharing your son and/or daughter with me.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Have a great day!
