Welcome Ms. Katie Anderson!

WMU Steven Byrant All-Star Band
Gobles High School will be represented during an all-Michigan high school band event at Western Michigan University on Thursday 13, 2017. An all-star ensemble will be created as part of the 49 annual Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music hosted by WMU's School of Music. The 120-member Steven Bryant All-Star Band will perform in Miller Auditorium.
Band directors from over 60 Michigan high schools submitted nominations for those who will play in this ensemble. The Bryant All-Star Band will be conducted by Steven Bryant this year's guest composer, and Dr. Scott Boerma, Director of Bands at Western Michigan University. Professors from the WMU School of Music selected those who will have the opportunity to participate in the all-star ensemble. Gobles High School will be represented by Cari Wiessner and Anne Huston.
The Spring Conference on Wind and Percussion Music will conclude with an evening concert featuring University ensembles and the Steven Bryant All-Star Band. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. in Miller Auditorium on the University's Kalamazoo campus. It is open to the public, free of charge.
MS Solo and Ensemble Sign-up
MS Solo and Ensemble will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at at Southwestern Michigan College (SMC) in Dowagiac, MI.
Solo and Ensemble is an MSBOA sponsored event. Students prepare music provided to them by either a private instructor or band director. They can perform either a solo or a duet. If they perform a solo, a piano accompaniment usually is performed with the solo part. If a student needs an accompanist, a phone number of an available person will be given to them. They should plan on meeting with this person at least two times before their performance. A student performing a solo should plan on staying after school on a regular basis to receive help from Mrs. Redmond or Ms. Anderson if they do not already have a private instructor.
If students choose to perform a duet, music will be provided to them. A piano accompaniment is usually not necessary. They should plan on staying after school once per week to work on their music with their duet partner and a teacher.
7th and 8th grade students interested in performing at Solo and Ensemble must sign up with Mrs. Redmond now. A $9.00 performance fee (per person, per event) is due on February 20th. If you prefer to pay with a check, please make checks payable to Gobles Band Boosters.
