McKenzie Winne was presented with the Van Buren County Education Association (VBCEA) student scholarship on May 4, by Shaina Tubergan, Gobles Middle School sixth-grade teacher and member of the VBCEA PR Committee.
“Each year the VBCEA PR Committee works hard at choosing a recipient that demonstrates the characteristics to become an outstanding educator. This year McKenzie couldn’t have been a better choice. She has worked hard with her experiences in Gobles Public Schools and deserves all the best in her future. The children that will have her as a teacher someday will be blessed by her compassion and many talents,” said Tubergan.
The recipient is selected based on several factors including volunteerism, academic achievements and positive characteristics. Additionally, the award winner must also be pursuing a career in the education field.
Winne attended the banquet along with her parents, Jay and Jodi Winne, who expressed sincere gratitude for their daughter’s recognition. “We would greatly like to thank the Michigan Education Association and VBCEA for selecting McKenzie as the 2016 recipient.”
“McKenzie has had some great teachers along the way helping to mold the person she has become,” said Jodi. “McKenzie will make a great teacher as she has a heart of gold and loves working with kids.”
