Gobles Elementary School participated in the 2016 Hour of Code, a worldwide effort to encourage everyone to spend one-hour learning how to code.
On Tuesday, December 6, 2016, and Friday, December 9, 2016, a total of 54 students in grades 3rd-5th, as well as five parents, participated in the hour-long coding sessions.
The Hour of Code has attracted many high-profile participants, including the likes of President Barack Obama, who wrote his first line of code as part of the event.
The code.org website featured 172 different programming options, including student favorites such as Minecraft, Frozen, Angry Birds, and Star Wars.
As students completed their various programming sessions, they were able to print Certificates of Completion to recognize their participation in the international event.
In addition, Gobles Elementary students have been using code.org to learn coding during their technology classes with Mrs. Julie Boes.
