All classes come to library on a weekly basis with each class lasting 30 minutes. Please check out our schedule to see what day your child has library. During their half hour, the students spend approximately 20 minutes finding their books and reading quietly and the last 10 minutes being read to by Mrs. Koehn.
Our card catalog can be accessed from all classroom computers as well as in the library. Teachers and students can search for books by Title, Author, Subject, Series, or a simple Keyword search. This is a great time-saving tool to search for a particular book before coming to library.
Check Out Policy
Young 5's through First grade check out one book each week. Second through Sixth graders check out two books weekly. Each teacher determines if his/her class is allowed to take books home.
Every student is responsible for returning his/her library books each week, although renewing his/her book is always an option. Over due fines are not charged; however, failure to return books on time will result in students not being allowed to choose new books until their overdue books are returned.
Lost or damaged books are expected to be paid for. Letters are sent home with the replacement price of the book after three weeks of any book not being returned. If the book is found at any time during the present school year the money will be refunded.
Our Media Center has a variety of resources including 1,034 nonfiction titles, 2,875 easy to read fiction (picture books) 4,223 fiction chapter books, 713 biographies, and 91 books with cassette tapes.
Our Accelerated Reader program is promoted by all grade levels beginning with Kindergarten through Sixth grade. Teachers in Third through Sixth grade use Accelerated Reader points as part of their grading system. We currently own 7,153 AR quizzes, and we encourage parents to stop in and check out these titles. Parents may also request a copy of the titles to use when making book purchases of their own. We also encourage you to take a look at out our collection of professional books, and feel free to check any of these books out for your personal reading.
