The Best Midwestern Writing Competition has announced winners of its student writing competition, and Gobles senior Elizabeth Ketchum won first prize in the Non-Fiction (11/12) category for her piece The Mirror in Her Words about a visit she made with her mother and sisters to a nursing home. The contest was open to high school students across the Midwest, sponsored by Western Michigan University.

 Kindergarten Programs

Gobles Elementary offers two Kindergarten Programs:
Developmental Kindergarten (Young 5's)
and Regular Kindergarten
Both programs are all-day, Monday-Friday. Gobles Elementary has been offering all-day, every-day Developmental and Regular Kindergarten programs for five years. Our teachers are experts in conducting excellent programs that offers strong academic, social, and emotional growth lessons and activities for Kindergarten aged students.

Free-Great Start Readiness Pre-School Program (GSRP)

Gobles is pleased to be able to offer a Great Start Readiness Pre-School Program starting in the fall. This is a structured pre-school program for four year old students. Students attend the program Monday-Thursday and transportation will be provided.

Elementary

 A new Michigan law passed earlier this year changed the start age for Kindergaten.  Starting in the fall of 2013, a child must be 5 years old on or before November 1, 2013.  For the fall of 2014, a child must be 5 on or before October 1, 2014 and for the Fall of 2015, a child must be 5 on or before September 1, 2015.

The new school year brings many changes to the Food Service Program as a result of the USDA adopting new requirements for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. Below is a list some of the major changes students will see this year.

Welcome to Gobles Elementary School where we focus on the future one child at a time. Gobles Elementary School is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment in which every student has the opportunity to learn and prepare for the ever changing world of the future. To achieve this goal, we continually strive to expand our educational programs and services, integrate technology into instruction, and develop healthy relationships with our community through open communications. Expanded academic assistance for students is provided through our Classroom Assistance Program (C.A.P.), tutoring before and after school, child studies, and a variety of special education services. A counselor is also an important part of our elementary support system. The staff has been trained in Choice Theory and we are members of the Quality Schools program.
