I want to recognize our employees for the enthusiasm and caring spirit that is brought to our District, day-after-day, year-after-year. I want to acknowledge the extra time and effort put forth by all our employees as a result of the challenges from the economy of the state and nation. I believe the energy our students have for learning comes from the work being done by each employee throughout the District. Our custodians have been very busy cleaning and polishing to make our schools look their very best. The maintenance and grounds staff has been getting everything in great shape and working order. The bus drivers have their busses and their smiles ready to welcome students back. Our food service staff is getting ready to provide us with nourishing meals in their positive, cheerful manner. We have a great instructional staff dedicated to teaching for excellence every day with support from our secretaries, paraprofessionals, and administrators. The enthusiasm, conversations, and activities stemming from the diverse learning environments created exemplify the excellence of our District and our community.
We encourage parents to remain involved in your child’s education as your involvement now will help your sons and daughters be more successful now in school an din their futures. Our children need all of our support to develop as great thinkers, innovators, and leaders. The commitment we make now will benefit everyone as they become citizens of the world, competing and collaborating in an ever-changing global landscape. Educators play a critical role in teaching knowledge and skills, but children’s attitudes toward school and their habits of studying, reading, and learning are largely developed at home.
We have great things in our district. On the state report card for schools, the annual yearly progress (AYP) for our MS/HS has improved from a B to an A and our elementary school has maintained its A. On any given day, over 95.6% of our students attend school. That is a testimony to those parents and students who understand that being present at school is critical for being successful in learning. Every one of our teachers are “highly qualified” according to the No Child Left Behind Act. Our staff members continue to engage themselves in professional development opportunities to enhance their skills. Our community supports education in the school district in so many ways; through participation in extra-curricular activities, the fundraisers, volunteering in classrooms and to help with chaperoning.
The mission of Gobles Public Schools is to invest the spirit of Gobles for the future: learning, pride, service, tradition, and vision. We strive to work together in realizing this mission, and the concepts are something we continually examine to provide the best education possible. You and I… we are investing the spirit of Gobles for the future.
