Reason on the Board: Initially it was to be involved with my children's education. To know what was going on and to help in whatever way was needed. Years later, after seeing four children graduate from Gobles, I still find pleasure in being involved as a school board member and helping in the concession stands at both football and basketball. I believe we have a very special community and school, in many ways because of the community involvement.

Reason of Board: As an alumnus and resident of Gobles I want to help the school system be the best it can be.  I plan on using my financial experience to help the school district make sound financial decisions.

Background: I grew up in the Bloomingdale area, and have lived in Gobles for over 20 years. Lorie and I have been married 26 years, and we have raised our four children here. We have been members of St. Jude’s Parish since 1986, where I have been the Senior High Sunday School Catechist for 17 years. I have also coached Gobles Little League for 20 years, and served on the Gobles School Improvement Team. I have served on several other professional association boards, including the Michigan Christmas Tree Association, the Mid-America Christmas Tree Association (currently serving), the Michigan Seedling Growers Association (currently serving), and the Legislative Committee of the National Christmas Tree Association.
Personal Interests: Family, Church, Sports, Coaching, Christmas trees :-)
Reasons on Board: As a parent, I am concerned with maintaining the academic excellence being offered to our children. I also understand the important role that extracurricular activities play in the formation of our children. As a long-time community member, I have developed positive relationships with many of the residents of Gobles and believe that I will represent their needs and desires very well. It is my goal to work with the Board, administrators, faculty, and the community to maintain and enhance our children’s overall educational experience. I believe my leadership experience and common sense will be an asset to the Board as it faces many upcoming challenges.

Background: I was born and raised in Gobles and recently purchased our first home here. My wife and I are currently raising our children here and plan to have them attend Gobles in the future. I am currently working for Schupan Aluminum & Plastic Sales in Kalamazoo as a Project Engineer after spending 6 years as a Production Control/Purchasing Agent in the steel fabrication industry.
Personal Interests: I am an avid reader who dabbles with the sport of Golf and I has recently rediscovered a joy of rock climbing. With the kids getting a little older we also plan on spending a good portion of the summer months camping all over the state.
Reason on Board: While I attended Gobles both my father and aunt served on the school board, so when the chance came up for me to get involved I felt that I couldn't let it pass me by. Even though it will be several years before either of my children are attending the Gobles School System I felt that it was the right time to start getting involved with the community.
